Our Privacy Policy Statement

diaryproject.com is the website of The Diary Project, a non profit organization that was formed to encourage teens through writing to find, develop, hear and share their own voices, feelings and thoughts to foster their health and well being.

The Diary Project and diaryproject.com are committed to protecting the privacy of our visiting community. We ask our users for very limited personal information ( age, gender and a screen name). This statement explains what information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it and what you can do about it. We also ask our users to be very cautious about giving out personal information while suing this site and to check with their parents before giving out personal information on our website.

Collection of Personal Information
diaryrproject.com maintains the confidentiality, security and integrity of personal information that we obtain from our users. We do not disclose personal information to any outside party that isn¼t part of the mission of The Diary Project. However visitors to our site are able to disclose any and all personally identifiable information to third parties on message boards. When users are posting an entry or comment on diaryproject.com we ask for a very minimal amount of non-personal information; screen name, age and gender. This is only so that visitors can easily identify entries that are of interest on the site. It will not be distributed, sold or transferred to any parties that are not related to The Diary Project and its mission.

Contact Sheet
Contact information is never retained. We simply gather it so that we can respond to your queries. It is used one time only and then deleted.

About IP Addresses
An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the web. Web servers ‚ the big computers that „serve¾ up webpages automatically identify your computer by its IP address. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that a user¼s session will be logged, but the user will remain anonymous to us. We will know your IP address, but not who you are.

This website does not knowingly collect, disclose or retain information from children 12 and under. Parents, if you become aware that your child has provided us with or disclosed personally identifiable information on this Website, we invite you to notify us via email at dpstaff@diaryproject.com so that we may delete the information they posted from our site.
